It’s going to be a big day for fans of Chance the Rapper.
The GRAMMY-winning performer has brought in Supersphere to help premiere the latest in his ongoing virtual concert series inside the world of VR. The “Chi-Town Christmas” performance will showcase the Chicago artist seamlessly moving through generations of television history in 360 degrees, culminating with a live band performance for the holidays that, of course, includes a gospel choir.
The performance will air exclusively in the Venues app (available on the Oculus Quest platform) on Friday, December 18, at 6 PM Pacific. Fans can visit http://ocul.us/chancetherapper to subscribe.
“From 10 Day until now I’ve always looked to put out my music on new platforms and reach wider audiences,” said Chance. “This will be a new way for people to really feel like they’re living inside my music and I’m hoping it will blow some minds.”
Chance began his virtual concert series in September to continue to connect with fans around the original live performances he’s known for even in the midst of a pandemic. This concert will be the fourth in that series, and the fact that he elected to premiere it in VR continues his now decades long track record of both artistic and technological innovation.
