Fans waited nearly a decade for Kid Cudi to release the third and final installment album in his Man on the Moon trilogy, and on 12/26 they’ll get their first chance to see new music from the album performed.
Fresh off the release of Man on the Moon III: The Chosen, Kid Cudi will perform material from the album for the first time as the GRAMMY-award winner brings his mind-bending creativity to the world of virtual reality.
Produced and presented by Supersphere, the performance will air exclusively in the Venues app (available on the Oculus Quest platform) on Saturday, December 26, at 6 PM Pacific, with encores throughout the rest of December. Fans can visit http://ocul.us/kidcudi to subscribe.
“I’d always envisioned this album as a movie of sorts,” said Kid Cudi.”The opportunity to work in virtual reality to build this lunar landscape, essentially perform on the moon, is the closest thing I could imagine to that vision coming to life.”
Kid Cudi will be able to bring the full magic of his stagecraft to the show thanks to Supersphere’s ArcRunner technology and the socialVR world of Venues. Using ArcRunner for production, Kid Cudi and his creative team are building a lunar environment that Kid Cudi will be able to seamlessly perform inside of, making virtually real his vision of being a man on the moon.
“Kid Cudi is a dream artist for us to work with,” said Supersphere’s Lucas Wilson. “His visual and music style blend as one, and how he presents those concepts are so important. And personally, it’s always a rewarding experience to be working with a musician whose music you love, and as a company, we couldn’t be more excited.”
