Behind the Lens with Supersphere Producer Taylor Glover

Whether setting up shop in soccer stadiums in Mexico City, legendary jazz clubs in New Orleans, or sound stages in Los Angeles, Supersphere Producer Taylor Glover is a constant on the Supersphere crew.  It is no small feat to aid an artist in executing their virtual vision while balancing artist management and label team demands, coordinating production crews and gear, all while giving your team the ability to execute at the highest level. On the heels of Supersphere’s debut broadcast of the elite amateur basketball league OTE’s Dunk Show, Taylor was able to share some thoughts on her time with Supersphere and how she helps to keep the ever-rolling Supersphere train on the tracks.

Hailing from Irving, TX, Taylor first moved to Los Angeles to work with major music festivals and live sports broadcast crews before meeting Supersphere founders Lucas and Doug at the Rolling Loud Festival in Los Angeles, where she first tried on an Oculus headset. Shortly thereafter, Glover joined the team in February 2019 and immediately began travelling across the world producing immersive broadcasts.

“What was most noticeable when I first joined Supersphere was that I was given the ability to have a voice in creative conversations working with some of the biggest artists in live music. Doug and Lucas are the most empowering leaders and mentors I could ever ask for. I often pinch myself to check that I am not living some perfect simulation.”

With Glover’s help in the bullpen, Supersphere has produced numerous live music, sporting and esports events across the US and around the world over the past three years. Even as COVID-19 was bringing production sets to a crashing halt, Glover helped assemble a skeleton crew to travel to Austin, Nashville and New Orleans to produce 18 shows in less than 10 days, all while working within the confines of COVID restrictions.

“Looking back, there’s so many great events to count from the past three years.  H.E.R. and Billie Eilish definitely stand out. We covered Billie Eilish for the second time at Governor’s Ball last year and I think she and her team are amazing to work with. Artist teams play a big role in the vibe of the show and what Supersphere is able to capture and accomplish.”

Although Glover is known amongst her team for maintaining a steady hand and cool demeanor when on set, the level of coordination and logistics required for different types of immersive broadcasts present different challenges. “Sometimes managing artist and venue teams can be a challenge on set, especially when trying to execute an artist’s vision in virtual reality the way we do with ArcRunner. But for instance, when we were able to bring Kid Cudi’s vision to life in 2020 with ArcRunner, it was absolutely fantastic.  I am a huge Cudi fan and to have the opportunity to work with icons like that, on something so innovative is a beautiful reminder of how fortunate I am to do what I do.”

And when Glover isn’t balancing conference calls and a stacked inbox, she’s also not afraid to take control of the jukebox. “Kota the Friend, Post Malone, Orville Peck and Marcus King are a few artists that I keep coming back to on Spotify these days.  We’ve been lucky to work with Post and the energy he brings to his shows is crazy.” says Glover.  As far as who she hopes to see on the upcoming Supersphere production calendar, “Tyler the Creator and Childish Gambino would be great to work with. And Frank Ocean too, he’s an artist who could really do something special with ArcRunner.”

Before Glover finally had to break away in order to make a run for her gate and soon-to-be boarding flight, she expressed her excitement for her future with Supersphere.  “The production schedule is always moving with exciting artists and events on deck, but the ability to be a part of a progressive company that is constantly innovating and trying new things is most exciting. I believe in what we are doing and the team I work with. I truly believe there is nothing we can’t do.”
